We use various techniques in our practice to control anxiety and pain. Conscious sedation is used to alleviate patient anxiety and stress and provide a more comfortable setting for all aspects of dentistry. Sedation can help you feel more relaxed during visits and easily allows numbness prior to treatment.

nitrous oxide (laughing gas)

Nitrous Oxide, also known as laughing gas, is a sedating gas that is combined with oxygen to make patients more comfortable during dental care. Nitrous oxide enters and exits the bloodstream rapidly without any long-lasting effects meaning you can come to your appointment unattended and leave on your own.

oral conscious

Sedation Oral Conscious Sedation is given in a pill form by prescription before your dental appointment. It may be combined with Nitrous oxide resulting in a more comfortable dental appointment.

intravenous (iv) sedation

Many patients have found that dental care with intravenous sedation may be the most comfortable and relaxing solution to their dental problem. IV sedation is the most effective method of acquiring adequate and predictable sedation in all patients. The use of an IV line also allows for an “antidote” to be administered to reverse the effects of the medications. Patients are continually monitored throughout their procedure with both heart and breathing monitors. Dr. Michaud is certified in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS).
